Using the KWorld ATSC-110 with MediaPortal

For those of you who own the KWorld ATSC-110 HDTV Tuner, you know that the accompanying PVR/DVR/HTPC software sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Beyond TV. In fact, I hear that it is most often reviewed as the best HDTV recording software around. It’s just that those reviews apply for the full versions. KWorld only bundles the SE subscribers’ edition, which, in the end, is “crippleware.” Basically, pretty much all you can do with this software is very limited viewing and recording, that is, unless you decide to fall for one of the aggressive subscribe-or-upgrade-me popup windows.

Download Google Videos as AVI Files

Have you ever watched a free clip from Google Video and wanted to download it only to find out that Google only lets you download the clip in a proprietary unmanageable format? I have!

Robot Chicken

In fact, this happened to me a couple of days ago. I saw this hilarious political comedy sketch from the TV show Robot Chicken ([adult swim] network) on Google Video. I wanted to put that clip on my MySpace profile. But, I would need to obtain it as an AVI format first. There is no free way I know of to convert Google Video files so I had to find a loophole.

WOL: Wake-on-LAN Tutorial with Bonus PHP Script

I love tweaking my computer! Every opportunity that allows me to specify what I want makes me excited of the possibilities. (With the exception of Azureus. That’s just too confusing for me!) In fact, the first thing I check after installing a new program is the possible existence of “Options,” “Preferences,” “Tools,” “Configuration,” “Settings,” or “Setup!”
